Inclusive
Health
In
2007 the North Carolina General Assembly passed Session Law 2007-0532,
which created the North Carolina Health Insurance Risk Pool (NCHIRP)
doing business as Inclusive Health. The mission of the Inclusive
Health is to provide affordable health insurance coverage for North
Carolinians who face high insurance premiums because of pre-existing
high-risk health conditions.
The
Inclusive Health State Option has grown to over 7,826 members
since it began accepting applications January 1, 2009.
Inclusive
Health Federal Option
Starting in July 2010, uninsured North Carolina residents with
pre-existing conditions may now qualify for the new Temporary
Federal High Risk
Pool. Established as one of the first initiatives under the Patient
Protection and Affordable Care Act, it targets people who have
been without creditable coverage for at least six months. In
North Carolina
it is administered by Inclusive Health, a North Carolina non-profit
established by the North Carolina State Legislature to administer
the Inclusive Health - State Option. The Inclusive Health Federal
plan will follow the same guidelines and reimbursement as the
current Inclusive Health State Option. For more detailed benefit
information
on both the Inclusive Health State Option and the Inclusive Health
Federal Option please log onto the Inclusive Health website at
www.inclusivehealth.org.
MedCost,
along with the NC Medical Society and NC Hospital Association,
supports the Inclusive Health and has agreed to develop a network
of providers to deliver affordable health care to these individuals.
CoreSource, whom MedCost has had a relationship since 1994, has been
